Off Duty Management at the FBINAA 2021 National Conference: Recap
As a proud sponsor and strategic alliance partner of the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA), ODM enjoyed seeing friends and meeting law enforcement leaders from across the nation in Orlando at this year’s FBINAA National Leadership Conference. Reputed as one of the premier events in the country for law enforcement leaders, the FBINAA conference is a chance to connect and receive vital training from industry experts. This year’s conference was a bit different with social distancing and masks, but the experience of meeting in person and hearing about off-duty jobs from the officers who work them was priceless. The conference was packed with relevant training sessions that addressed major challenges today’s agencies face.
ODM’s managers enjoyed convening and discussing the status of the off-duty industry while re-affirming the organization’s commitment to providing the best service possible to officers everywhere. We also publicly reinforced our philosophy: that law enforcement agencies should have access to off-duty job management resources, including liability coverage and workers’ compensation. Most importantly, we reiterated that these services should not cost agencies anything—rather, taxpayer dollars should be re-directed into agency budgets, where they can serve officers and communities.
The ODM team was grateful for the chance to discuss how we support our agency partners across the country and our upcoming service updates. We spoke with and answered questions from law enforcement officers, each with their own experiences and perspectives on off-duty work. To our team, this interaction was invaluable, because it helps us gain even more insight into how to best serve officers working extra jobs and enabled us to share important information about the off-duty industry with the people directly impacted by it.
A lucky few attendees also got the opportunity to hear from our newly appointed company President, retired Chief of Austin TX PD, Brian Manley. Brian is an expert on officer wellness and major cities operations. The team at ODM could not be more excited to have Brian at the helm and cannot wait to share some of the awesome developments we are working on together. Remember to follow us on LinkedIn for key updates and announcements from Brian.
Another highlight for the ODM team was discovering the winner of our “Crack-The-Safe” giveaway. We generated hundreds of random combinations, but only one had the power to open the safe. Congrats to the two lucky grand prize winners:
RTIC 65Qt Cooler, Omaha Steak Bundle & 4 ODM tumbler Set- WINNER: Brian D. Gardner (Linn County Sheriff's Office, IA)
RTIC Ultra-Light cooler, 4 ODM tumbler Set & Safe- WINNER: Major Josh Judah (Metro Police department, KY)
Our team had an amazing time at the FBINAA 2021 National Training Conference this year and cannot wait to see everyone again in 2022.
